HOW IT ALL STARTED

The Marianna Volunteer Fire Company held its organizational meeting July 1942. On October 26, 1942 a charter was obtained. The first executive officers of the company to be elected were Arleigh Shrontz, President; Frank Detts, Vice President; Joseph Hecht, Secretary; and Thomas J. Jones, Treasurer. The first fire officers of the company to be elected were Stanley Frederick, Fire Chief; Paul Kite, Assistant Chief; Tim Roule, Engine Captain; and Charles Croft, Hose Captain. There were seventy-three volunteers enrolled as charter members of the company. In 1948 the department recieved its first pumper truck, an American LaFrance.

On April 24, 1947 property for the fire hall was purchased from Kenneth Hazlett in the amount of $2500.00. The building was completed April 13, 1948.

In 1994 the building next to the fire station caught fire totally destroying the building and the fire station. Shortly thereafter property on Broad Street was obtained and ground was broken for a new building which is its current location.
